BREAST REDUCTION
Breast reduction, also called reduction mammoplasty, is designed to relieve the physical discomfort often associated with very large breasts, and enhance the overall appearance of your breasts. The procedure removes excess breast tissue, excess skin and fat, making your breasts smaller and firmer. The areola (the pigmented skin surrounding the nipple) may be reduced and repositioned. Breast reduction can be performed at any age, but Dr. Anderson usually recommend waiting until breast development has stopped.
PAIN FREE RECOVERY
We can now provide a virtually pain free breast reduction with the ON-Q pain relief system. This is a wonderful, safe and very effective system which can almost eliminate the need for pain medication after this surgery. We are the first to make this available in Scottsdale.
You may be a good candidate for breast reduction if you feel that your breasts are too large in proportion to your body frame. Restriction of physical activity due to the size and weight of your breasts, and dissatisfaction or self-consciousness about the largeness of your breasts are also common concerns with breast reduction patients.
Insurance coverage is sometimes available for breast reduction surgery. Many factors determine your eligibility, including the specific terms of your insurance policy and the amount of breast tissue to be removed. A letter of predetermination may be required by your insurance company prior to surgery.
The most common method of reducing the breast involves three incisions. One incision is made around the areola. Another one is vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the crease beneath the breasts. The third incision is horizontal beneath the breast and follows the natural curve of the breast crease.
SUCTION REDUCTION AVAILABLE
Breast Reduction can also be accomplished with Liposuction and avoidance of larger scars. This Suction procedure is very suddessful for many patients. A consultation can help to dtermine who would likely benefit from this rather new Suction Reduction Technique.
Breast Reduction is a very popular procedure for men. For men I prefer the Suction technique and may combine this with a small incisional removal of any residual breast tissue after suction. This is one of the most popular surgical procedures for males. Several hundred thousand have been done with good success.
The incisions from your breast reduction surgery will heal and fade over time. It is important to realize, however, that the incision lines will be permanently visible, more in some individuals than others. Fortunately, the incisions for breast reduction are in locations easily concealed by clothing. Dr. Anderson have found that the level of patient satisfaction resulting from breast reduction is among the highest of any plastic surgery procedure.
